well here is what's happening lately...
Andrew just got recruited to work at a shoe store in the mall. the name of the store is Tradehome, i know what you're thinking what a weird name for a shoe store right?? so it actually has quite a good story as to how it got it's name, it even goes way back to the depression era. so anyways at the beginning of next year andrew is going to be the assistant manager of this shoe store. so far he likes it and for the time being he is working part time at circuit city and part time at tradehome. andrew's boss, who opened the store here, just moved to boise along with his fiance. we've been out with them a few times and have had fun actually getting to know couples our own age!
Jess is now the color instructor and is loving it. the girls in the program have very strong personalites and it again is a challenge, but she is up to anything by this point.
We are just finishing our chirstmas shopping and barely seeing each other. it's kind of a crazy time right now for the two of us. we have been looking around for places to live and by living i mean actually moving out of my parent's house... WOW i know big step huh? places are pretty expensive here so that's going to be tough on us but everything always works out right?!?! it's finally snowing here and just a few days from christmas it's feeling christmasy... it is such a wonderful time to be thankful for everything. we are just tryng to be thankful that we have each other, a place to lay our heads at night, and such amazing families. i have some pictures of us but my computer isn't working that well, so i'll have to post them later. HAPPY HOLIDAYS ya'll

2 years down 77 more to go
well friends only 6 weeks til Christmas and just a few days til Thanksgiving!! well i figure i haven't written in a while so here's what's new. Andrew and i are celebrating our 2 year anniversary on the 22 of this month. i am shocked that 2 years ago all the family was in Hawaii to join us for our big day. we're going to utah to visit andrew's parents, which is exciting since we haven't seen them in a while. on saturday we're headed to salt lake to be by ourselves and to just enjoy each others company.
Some crazy things are kind of happening right now. Circuit city just filled chapter 11 and is closing 154 stores in the US. luckily the boise store isn't closing.. yet. andrew is still looking for advertising jobs and has had a few side jobs like making ads for the Boise Zoo and a couple of other things.
things are progressing at my work and something exciting might be in the works for me... details later to come.
so here are some of our favorite pictures from our big day of november 22, 2006
XOXO

Halloweenie
halloween was sooo much fun! i went to school as a kitty and every called me cat women... or jessi-cat. hmm that was fun! no one really dressed up at school besides the instructors. there was a few students that did. there were even prizes and that still wasn't an incentive.
tato and stephanie as a nerd and devil.. two of my favorite students.

This is one of the instructors... she was a twinkie
this is debbie and she was an evil queen.. also an instructor.
andrew didn't have to work so he didn't dress up but we stayed home and had a rousing game of domino's with the family. we had trick or treaters come by and then we went to see my nephews. chance was dressed as a baseball player, jaxon was bobo fait, and ryker was a tiger.(he also decided to first start walking on halloween.)well nothing new is really happening. andrew is still working at circuit city but 155 stores are closing so we're a little worried, but honestly andrew hates it so if our store closes it isn't the worst thing that could happen. he's still applying for jobs everywhere, we just are being patient. we've been talking to a few ad jobs and hopefully something will happen.
last weekend we went to my grandpa's cabin in island park and had a really nice time with him! i sure do miss visiting him all the time. we went to montana and went to a small town called virginia city. it used to be the capital of montana back in like 1864. now it's all boarded up and just a ghost town. it was really cool. well that's what's new here.

appreciation for teachers
so can i just tell you how much more appreciation i have for teachers!!! since i am now an instructor at a barber college i am the theory teacher and the basic class teacher. so let me explain what exactly those classes have me doing.
the theory class is for an hour each morning... there are about 17 chapters that i have to teach and test on each week. did i mention that half my class has little to no reading comprehension. WOW this is the biggest challenge for me. every night i have to come home and plan some game for my class because obviously reading is not something they understand. this is very overwhelming and time consuming. andrew and i have not been able to spend much time together and that is hard since when we were in college we got to have SOME time alone, now we have none. i am always so stressed and feel like breaking down every second i get. so if you have any ideas please feel free to share your thoughts with me!
now my basic class is when brand new students come in and have to be taught the basics, hence the basic class. so i have to teach anywhere from 2-8 students at a time depending at the class size. this coming October 6 the new class has 6 students in it. i've already taught a class of 2 which was easy but 6 is a lot to explain everything to. i'm feeling a little nervous just explaining it. so i am in the class room for 3-4 weeks every month teaching my class and when i feel it is appropriate i release them on to the floor, where they then start cutting actual client's hair. i'm not to fond of being in the classroom that long, but it'll be fine.
basically i have already learned so much here's a few things to share with you...
a) i love teaching
b) teaching is the hardest thing i have ever tackled
c) i have learned to appreciate (even more) my time that i get to spend with my wonderful helping husband and my family
d) i have found and strive to develop another talent that my Heavenly Father has given me
e) i have learned to be amazed at the talents that other people have
f) i am thankful for the awesome teachers that sculpted me into who i am
so enough about that here is what's going on with andrew...
he is liking not loving his job, but man is he awesome at what he does. he is selling 126% of the goal or expectation that he is suppose to!!! he is a little frustrated that he feels like he is always trying his hardest and his co-workers are slacking. i am so thankful for the work ethic that his parents instilled in him because he is always going above and beyond what he is suppose to be doing. he is always helping someone at work and will go to greet someone else and then one of the other co-workers will steal his sell. it's frustrating that no one is honest anymore besides my amazing husband.
he has been helping me when he gets home with anything i need and has been such a blessing to me during this time. i could never ask for someone better. he always teaches me so much and is willing to do what i cannot.
well we got another car just a little Hyundai that my dad gave us but we had to have the transmission fixed but it runs great and we are so thankful for all that was willing to help us out! andrew detailed it and cleaned it up nicely and it looks great. we are just thankful to have a second car so no one has to drive us around anymore.
anyways i have to go do some more stuff for school tomorrow
XOXO

just so ya know what's happenin
as most of you know andrew and i are living in boise with my parents... enough said there.
so after a crazy 2 weeks of family reunions, andrew and i have FINALLY found jobs. andrew is working at circuit city and still applying for jobs worldwide for the position that he graduated in. we have some new jobs that just presented themselves so we are currently waiting on them. hopefully it is something that can take us on another adventure!! we will keep you updated if anything happens... pray for us. andrew really likes working at circuit city and has really enjoyed it. we are realizing that we're going to have to be buying another car so that is a bummer. he has done such a good job selling TVs and has been the top 3 salesmen and has only worked there for 3 weeks, but we all know how fabulous he is so i will stop bragging. (for now)
jess is working as an instructor trainee at a barber college, it's name is boise barber college. it is such a great opportunity for me. i am actually getting paid to do something that i should be paying for. (most of the time if you want to get your instructor license you have to pay a school for 6 months to train you, it sometimes can cost up to 10,000 dollars) so this school is nothing like my cosmetology school. let me tell you a little bit about it. first the state of idaho recognizes cosmetologist, stylist, and barbers. the difference you ask?
a cosmetologist has to have 2000 hours and can do any service besides face shaves with a straight razor.
a stylist can almost do what a cosmetologist can, but they are not allowed to do fake nails, pedicures, and manicures, but do do face shaves. they go to school for 1500 hours.
barbers on the other hand are only allowed to do haircuts and shaves and only have to go to school for 900 hours.
so in this school is a total diversity. we have ladies who are in their 40's, men in the 50-70's, we have young adults who just graduated from high school, a lot of Hispanics and African American men. we have a lot of ex cons who have already been incarcerated and this is basically their last chance to make a life for themselves. it is quite sad, but yet exciting to see them doing something that they actually look forward to doing that will keep them out of trouble.
i LOVE it there. i have already learned so much from them and can't wait to help the school grow and help those in need.
it is such a catch 22 with andrew still applying for jobs. i have never really wanted to come back to boise yet and here we are. i love my job and want to see these people progress. andrew is doing so well and is having a good time. on the other hand we need to be on our own and to find ourselves outside of college life, so hopefully when the time is right we will find that "special" place and be able to grow from life.

and now we're back
for the last 2 1/2 weeks andrew and i have been at family reunions, back to back. one being in provo utah and the other at the oregon coast! and now here we are back in boise, jobless and tired...
let me tell you alittle of what happened at each. first we went to andrew's family reunion which was in provo. it was the first time that we had officially all been together since his parent's returned from their mission in brazil. it was a lot of fun. we sta
yed in a masion that was big enough to fit us all. (a total of ) so it was nice to see them all. so one of the days we went to the building that had a lot of those big blown up jumpy castles. it was so fun there were big jumpy slides and obstacle ones. andrew and i had so much fun. a lot of the days we swam and just hung out. it was so nice to relax! we went to BYU one day and walked around campus for a while. i had never been there so that was neat. we went to out to eat a few times and everything was really good. after this wonderful family reunion we returned to boise for one night only to embark on another family reunion the next day.
off we
went to the oregon coast with my family. we drove with my parents because gas is so expensive. so there was andrew and i my mom and monte and then tonnns of food and suitcases in the back. so on the way there we saw lots of wind surfers and kite surfers. it was really cool. so we had to pick one of my brother's up from the portland airport. so then it was even more squished. we finally made it to our rental house which was really neat. it was three stories high and had everything you could imagine. it was amazing. just a few feet from it was the ocean. outside our widow you could see it and go stand out on the balcony. it was so pretty. everybody came except for one of my brothers and his family.. t
hose party poopers. we did a lot of fun things. one day we went down to the pier in newport oregon, another day we went to the aquarim, we went to play in the ocean, we had good food and good company. we went to tillamook where there was this really cool steam train. the kiddies loved it. we then had lunch at the tillamook cheese factory and had some of their delicious jerky. everynight we would play games into the wee hours of the morning... that's something that my family does best. it was really just such a blast!
we are just so thankful for family and the love that we feel from them. we are so grateful for the support and love they give us. it was nice to renew friendships and meet new members of the family. it's hard to be back and not on vacation anymore. anyways thanks for the amazing two weeks
we had moms and dads. we love and appreciate you guys sooooo much.

WOOOOOHOOOO
it finally came! my honey's graduation!!!!! after all this time, trials, long hours of school/homework, and just plain exhaustion... he did it. so on july 18, 2008 andrew redd bertasso graduated with his bachelors in communications.andrew's parents came into town for his graduation. it was wonderful to see them (they have been mission presidents in brazil for the last 3 years, they just came back the beginning of july.)we spent the day with them shopping and "getting to know them again," after that we went to dinner and andrew's older sister carrie and her 3 kids were there. (her husband was out of town at the time) it was really fun and i think we all enjoyed it. the next day andrew went to school and then came home to pack before graduation.
for those of you who don't know we are moving to boise for the time being. we are hoping that job hiring goes better in the fall. andrew has 2 phone interviews on monday and we are processed through anoth
er job. so things might be looking up.i have decided that packing is the worst. we both hate it and have vowed to move as few times as we can.
anyways i am so proud of andrew and all he did and went through to graduate. he is so wonderful and i cannot wait to start our "new" lives somewhere else then college. we're going to meet new friends and experience new things together. what a wonderful feeling for us both. i love you andrew, thanks for putting up with me and putting up with all this school so we can start a family and get on with our careers.

yummy yummy in our tummies
our friends bree and jesse had decided that since we had never been to big jud's they wanted to go with us. neither of us had never been, it's funny because they even have a big jud's in boise and my friends used to go all the time. i some how always skipped out. so tonight we went to big jud's and it was so packed but we decided that we weren't in any hurry. it took about an hour an a half just to get our fries. we all shoved them down our throats... then finally our 1 POUND burger came. andrew and i shared it and only ate half of it. we were so full and had forgotten that we even got a big ice cream cone afterwards. i couldn't even finish my 1/4 of the hamburger or half of my ice cream. i'm weak. anyways it was delicious and i would defiantly go back when it wasn't so busy!
for the fourth of july we went to go to island park to hang out with my grandpa. he lives all by himself in the summer. so we took him to yellowstone. we went through the yellowstone park some more and then they were having a BBQ at the rec park. we ate and settled in the park to wait for the fireworks show. it was our first time in the west yellowstone seeing the fireworks, the show was better then we all thought it would be. this dumb girl kept standing right in front of us all, ah i was so mad, but than had to remember why we were even celebrating the 4th.
here are a few pictures of first experience....

pop goes the air bag
just like every morning i head to the gym do my workout and get ready to drive back home so i can begin my day... today was almost the same as every other day, but we had a little set back. in the gym parking lot, there is a lot of construction going on, as i went to grab my water i looked down for one second. all the sudden i hear scraping of the bottom of our little suzuki then POP, the air bag exploded on my arm. i screamed bloody murder and pulled over. i was afraid i had broken my arm since it is so fragile (i have broken it 3 different times) i searched for my phone and finally found it. i called andrew crying like a crazy woman. since we only have one car and live on the other side of the freeway, andrew told me to stay there and he'd be right over. my poor husband had to jump the freeway and run over to where i was. he got there and i was a mess. now that i think about it, it's kinda funny, but at the time i was shaking and freaking out. everything is ok my arm isn't broken but i have a rash and bruise.
we went back to take some pictures just in case we decided to do something. we found a part of our car there. haha seriously this would only happen to me... when i talked to my mom she was worried but she when i talked to her later she said she had been giggling all day cuz she knew this would never happen to anyone else.
anyways i thought i would just share this little mishap with you..

good ol gramps
wednesday my grandpa called me and told me that ever since i married that boy i haven't been to visit that often. (don't get me wrong he loves andrew, but misses his family) so on friday andrew and i left to go to island park. my grandpa lives in his cabin during the summer and he gets pretty lonely. andrew loves to take pictures and so we left extra early knowing that dinner was at 6 for grandpa. we took some other roads and andrew took pictures. it was a nice drive and we actually got to talk about everything we wanted to. (it's hard with andrew being in school and me working. we are always super busy and never get to spend time together so it was REALLY WONDERFUL!!) we arrived at the cabin and grandpa was ready to go. he wanted to go out... lets see, so our options were cafe inn and subway. awesome. we decided on cafe inn. it was seriously delicious. we went home and watched the news and gramps was off to bed. andrew and i had a tossful, turnful night. it was awful... andrew got up at 5 and went to take pictures. so when he got back i got up and we went to yellowstone. gramps decided he wanted to go as well. so when it was getting around lunch time gramps kept saying, "up here they have a really good biscuit." we finally got to the the little town inside yellowstone. we ended up at the general store to get our biscuits. gramps favorite was the frozen cheeseburger that he had to heat up in the microwave... ps he has no teeth and didn't bring his dentures. he's so cute and chowed it down like a pro. andrew and i shared the most horrible sandwich. oh grandpa and his biscuit. we headed back to island park and everything was so much fun. i'm pretty sure grandpa had a good day. yellowstone was so beautiful and there was elk and buffalo everywhere.
this video is of the upper falls in yellowstone. it was amazing!

now we're back in rexburg and am hoping for a good night's sleep. my pictures are never as good as andrew's but i like sharing my lovely work ;)
this video is of the upper falls in yellowstone. it was amazing!these lovely buffalos were just walking in the street holding up traffic for like 30 minutes. they decided to just mosey on down the street. it was pretty fun.

18 months already!?!?!?
andrew's and i 18 months anniversary was today! how fast time flew huh? our big day was nothing to special. it consisted of andrew at school til 4 then pita pit for dinner. the gym at 8 then grey's anatomy at 9:30... it was so eventful!!! oh wait then we had BBQ steak and cooked peas for our post workout meal. it all ended with andrew sneezing peas all over my leg. it was pretty sweet let me tell you. so there's our wonderful 1 1/2 years together. we had no pictures but there are already enough on here. i will tell you that i am so lucky to have andrew in my life and don't know how i ever lived without him. he completes my world as corny as that sounds, but i hear there are many fish in the sea for everyone.. i definantly feel different i'm pretty sure andrew is the only little fishy for me. i love you boo. happy half anniversary!!

Sunburn and Four Square
let me just tell about the absolutely lovely weekend andrew and i had...
friday was full of adventure for both of us! andrew went to bannack montana and jess went to an elementary for her nephew's FIELD DAY!!! i don't know how many of you remember field day but it is like the best day of a elementary kid's lives. the whole school participates and each grade goes around to different activities. i went with my sis in law carrie. matthew is her boy and abby and ryan as well. carrie and i had all the kids and abby was so excited to actually be able to play on the playground. matthew was having so much fun and was so excited about everything. it was a blast. when we finally went home we decided that we should go get a snow cone! (i am an addict to snow cones for those who don't know me well) this was my first snow cone of the season and MOM guess what i got.... a lime snow cone haha i know i know i vowed i would never get just a plain lime snow cone. i guess it shows ya to never say never. so i got home around 3:30 and it was so nice to just relax for a little bit. when my body touched the cool couch i knew i was in trouble.... i had the worst sunburn EVER! later my best friend brit called and we decided that we should have a BBQ on saturday because it was going to be so nice outside. so we went to the store to get some goodies and steak.
meanwhile andrew was having a blast with his photo class in bannack. bannack is an old ghost town in montana that is amazing. they say that the hotel there is haunted by a sixteen year old girl who drowned in the river. there were a lot of drownings and hangings there. there were even the old gallows on the hill. it truely is awesome. he got to go on a tour and even go into the masonic temple that is above the old school house. he was told that the mason's still meet there once a year for multiple reasons. so andrew got home around 9:50 and it was really good to see him. it's funny how you think it'll be nice to have a little break from eachother but then in the end the only person you want to see that day is your loving spouse.
ok so here's sat... first of all we were suppose to go to the gym but our guy cancelled and then we were gonna start packing the second bedroom but that never happened. so we lounged around for a few hours and went to the store and yadi yadi yada. fianlly it was time for brit and kelly to come over and we were so excited to eat and go out with them. our BBQ was delicious and everything turned out wonderful. (my husband can cook a mean steak!!) we decided that we hadn't been bowling in a while and plus it'd be somewhat of good exercise. so bowling it was.. kelly kicked all our trash. we were all secretly jealous but we played it cool. then it was back to our house for some mexi train! our 4's favorite game. i believe i won! woot woot!!

here is a lovely picture of andrew and i trying to blow a bubble at the same time... were pretty pathetic bubble blowers! also i don't know if you can see the sunburn line i have. it doens't look bad in this pic but it was severe.
sunday was really good we have church early and so after it gives us time to eat lunch take a nap and then eat again 2 of my favorite things:) then it was sunday game night with who you might ask.. take a wild guess.. our 2 favorite people BRIT AND KELLY again! we played some mexi train and then the best part was we decided to play four square. let me tell you it was amazing. four square was awesome! all the neighbors were looking at us a little funny but we all knew they just wanted to play. maybe next time we'll invite them! it was really so much fun. so anyways i know this blog was long but i just had to much excitment!

Let's go fly a kite....
yesterday afternoon andrew and i decided to take our niece and nephew to fly these way cool inflatable kites that we bought them. andrew and i also bought a kite for us to fly and it looked like a shark! how exciting eh? we also played on the jungle gym in our courtyards. the kids had a blast and so did we. here are some crazy fun pictures of us all and a half side ways video for ya'll! (just a disclamer my pictures aren't as good as andrew's so don't expect great quality from these) ENJOY:)
here's abby on our jungle gym . the kids think that there is a monster that lives with us and comes to play on the jungle gym. his name happens to be "jim." carrie (our niece and nephew's mom for those of you who don't know) she says that the kids are always talking about the monster that lives at our house. they're quite infatuated with jim.
here's uncle andrew trying to help get the kites in the air. the wind was not in our favor this particular day.. lucky us!
matthew had a buzz lighter kite and abby had a barbie kite. they were so cool and worked a lot better in the wind then our shark kite. they were fun for the kiddies.
here is me and matthew on this crazy in the air see-saw at the jungle gym.
YAY i love to play!!!!! i'm just a kid at heart.....

We love the weekends
this weekend was so much fun! on friday night we went to dinner and a movie with our good friends brit and kelly. we decided to go to idaho falls and go see a movie but the show didn't start until about 9:50 so we decided to go to winco and fill up on candy... oh man we decided to weigh how much candy we got and it ended up being 6.5 pounds of yummy goodness that we all shared. haha (just to let you know we were definantly sick at the end of the night) brit and i decided that we should go old school and wear candy necklaces so we made the boys wear them too. it was great fun and we all looked halirous. here is a lovely picture of us all
so we saw the movie 21 and it was pretty good. saturday was nothing special we cleaned and just hung out with eachother which was nice to have a few hours to ourselves.
sunday was our nephew's baby blessing and we went to lunch at their house and it was fun to see everybuddy and to meet some new people and ryan looked like a little angle. he was adorable! so after lunch we went to the rexburg temple and took some way cute pictures of andrew's sister and brother in law's family infront of the temple. it was such a nice day! when we were done andrew and i went home to the house smelling wonderful filled with ribs in the crockpot. they were delicious! so then brit and kelly came over of course to play some mexican train!!!! woot woot. we had a blast. andrew won.... anyways there's our weekend it was a blast!

Ooohhh and Awwww
so yesterday night around 11 we decided to go get our favorite thing! SODA! horkley's is basically our hangout. yes a gas station is like our second home. our good friend works there and so everynight we go and get a pop. so right across from horkley's is the senoir center and a place called the medicine shop. when we get to horkley's we notice that the whole police force is surrounding the senoir center and the medicine shop. we are there for about 15 minutes and watched them. it was about the most exciting thing that has happened here in such a long time. haha so sad i know. there were people parked at horkley's and also standing with us. so as we watched, more police along with the medicine man showed up and all the sudden guns were drawn and the search began. the police went inside and searched the building... we all just stood outside and watched. it was intense. they didn't find anyone inside but anways it was pretty exciting and lame at the same time. good ol wed nights here in rexburg idaho!

ANGRY AND RAGING....
so for those of you who aren't familar with us all that well jess is a hairstylist at a salon called mystique and andrew is taking 19 credits for our last semester... so anyways at my salon i rent out my own booth and so a ten by ten space is what i own for the same amount of rent as our house rent.. a little ridiculous i know but it's a good palce to work. today i went to the salon to do a color for a client ( more like a friend i had met but wasn't to sure about.) i like to be a half hour early for every appointment so i arrived at noon and got set up and talked to some of the other girls while i waited for my 12:30 app. so i sat and waited and waited and waited and waited.. you get the idea... i waited. well 12:30 came around and then 12:40 came around and finally 12:50 came around and no one showed.. so i left raging. not only had i wasted my time there but yesterday when i had to find time to run to idaho falls to the beauty supply store to pick up the certian color she wanted for her hair. i am pretty sure that anyone with decency would at least call to say they would be late or not coming. that has to be my biggest pet peeve! i can't think of anymore disrespectful attitude or decision. anyways there's my blog for the day..... angry and raging was how i am feeling but i'm over it and am going to move on with my wonderful day!

on sunday we got to play with our married besties who are so much fun. as kelly and brit would say "their our go to couple" we played cards and as always had so much fun. brit and kelly are just so much fun to be around and we are so lucky that we all get along so well. we're not sure what we're gonna do with out them when we move in july. next sunday we are playing mexican train and can't wait!

Boise Fun..
this last weekend andrew and i went to boise to visit my family for a little vacay between semesters. we had such a good time. monte was asked to put some of his artwork in the new Saint Luke's hospital in Eagle. it was awesome they were so nicely done and he was so proud. as were all of us of him. on sunday we went to succor creek in oregon. it was amazing. in the middle of all the craziness there was all the sudden these huge cliffs and a running creek. it was 82 degrees and it was a nice change from little rexburg idaho. monte and andrew and my aunt lori went up on the cliffs and hiked around while my mom and i walked around and explored the bottom half of the canyon. andrew had a job interview at a advertising firm called Drake Cooper. it went reall well and so it's nice to know that we at least have one option after this semester is over! we are already for our next vacay and hope it comes soon!
